Internship Program Spring 2019

Ahorn is offering a new internship program starting from Spring 2019.

The workload and educational program will be about 15/20 hours per week for the duration of 3 months in our studio space in Berlin, Friedrichshain. As a very small organization, we can offer to each intern a small reimbursement, additional educational benefits, and resources during the internship. At the moment, this position is only available for students that have to fulfill a mandatory internship as part of their studies. The candidate should be able to relocate to Berlin, Germany for the duration of the internship.

Candidates can apply for two types of internship positions, depending on their skills and interests.

 

*Design and production internship*

The design and production intern will assist Ahorn’s website management and editorial design conception and process.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign, have a basic knowledge and interest for both editorial design and web design, with a basic understanding of the use of different CMS platforms and e-commerce websites.

The intern will be trained in Ahorn’s content management systems. Advanced knowledge of English, written and spoken, is necessary. German is a plus but not essential. The candidate needs to be passionate and curious about fine art photography, design, and contemporary art.

This internship may be helpful for different types of students and future professionals, from photographers to graphic designers, since our activity blends various disciplines.

*Editorial internship*

The editorial intern will assist with Ahorn's editorial projects and programs. The intern will help with the creation of new titles for our publishing activity and help us research and edit content for our online platform. Depending on the candidate’s interests and abilities, duties may include coordinating the execution of articles and artist projects; research assistance; assisting with developing new projects and programs such as public events and workshops; assisting with the communication of our content both online and in print.

English Native Speaker or Native Level is required. German is a plus but not mandatory. Excellent writing skills and a good eye for proof-reading and editing. The intern will be trained in Ahorn’s content management systems. The candidate needs to be passionate and curious about fine art photography, design, and contemporary art. A sensibility for politics, philosophy, art and design criticism is also very much appreciated.

This internship may be helpful for different types of students and future professionals but indicated especially for artists, writers, editors, curators, as well as journalists interested in design and visual arts.
